The Blanton Museum of Art is a highly respected university art museum located in the heart of everything. With a permanent collection of more than 21,000 works, the Blanton is known for its European paintings, prints and drawings, and modern and contemporary American and Latin American art.

The Blanton is one of many distinguished landmarks on the University of Texas at Austin campus, including The Harry Ransom Center, the Briscoe Center for American History, The University of Texas Press, UT Libraries, the Graduate School, and the Michener Center for Writers.

The Blanton Museum of Art is conveniently located at the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Congress Avenue, across the street from the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum and adjacent to downtown Austin.

The Blanton’s mission revolves around teaching and learning. Our experienced team of educators, which consists of community volunteers, Graduate Teaching Fellows, and professionals, creates a warm environment for all visitors. We also design learning experiences that are tailored to different learning styles, developmental stages, and curricular goals. We’re firm believers that art matters in people’s lives. Furthermore, we believe that the skills associated with close looking and interpretation – creativity, critical analysis, community, and social justice – are essential life skills.
