Fractional Laser Treatments
Fractional Laser Treatments in Austin
Over time and through the aging process, the skin on your face can lose its luster. It begins to lose its firmness, and sag, creating fine lines and wrinkles at first, and then leading to the creation of deeper wrinkles. Exposure to the sun, and even your own genetics can create problems with skin pigmentation, as well, leading to the development of age spots (or sun spots, if you prefer). Fractional laser treatments in our Austin clinic can help you fight back against age and genetics.
The Youthful Beauty Your Deserve
At Personique On The Spot, we understand the importance your skin’s health and beauty plays in your self-confidence and overall quality of life. To help, we offer a wide range of skin rejuvenation treatments, ranging from microdermabrasion to laser skin resurfacing and fractional laser treatments.
Of course, it can be difficult to determine what skin rejuvenation treatment is best suited to your needs, your skin type, your pigmentation, and unique goals. We can help. We invite you to contact our Austin office today for a full consultation and to help determine if fractional laser treatments are ideal for your needs.
What Are Fractional Laser Treatments?
A wide range of noninvasive treatments are available for patients seeking a way to rejuvenate their facial skin, recapture the glow of youth, and to fight back against the signs of aging. Fractional laser technology is one such option.
There are two primary types of laser systems used in clinics today. You’ll find non-ablative lasers, as well as CO2 (carbon dioxide) systems. Each offers similar results, but may be a better fit for specific people. For instance, non-ablative lasers are generally better suited to younger patients who are combatting mild wrinkles and scarring.
CO2 lasers, on the other hand, are better suited for older patients with deeper wrinkles and who need more in the way of skin rejuvenation. This is because CO2 fractional lasers are able to penetrate more deeply into the skin than non-ablative lasers, but their use does require a bit more recovery time than with non-ablative systems.
Both systems are used to achieve the same goals, though, including a reduction in fine lines and wrinkles, evening of skin tone and a reduction of pigmentation issues, such as age spots.
How Does Fractional Laser Technology Work?
Fractional laser technology is similar in concept to other skin resurfacing methods, if not in function. The goal is to remove the aged, damaged skin cells on the outermost layer of the epidermis, and allow younger, healthier skin cells from lower levels of the skin to rise to the top.
With fractional laser technology, this is done by removing columns of cells (columns running down into the tissue, as opposed to across it). These columns are microscopic in size, and they encourage the body’s natural healing process to kick in. When this occurs, collagen will fill the columns removed the laser, rejuvenating the skin, and making it firmer, more lustrous, and healthier.
For most patients, a series of three to five treatments will need to be performed. In most instances, these will be spaced out one per three to eight weeks depending on your goals, and the intensity of each treatment session. Many patients report seeing a difference after the very first treatment, though.
Benefits of Fractional Laser Treatments for Austin Patients
Like other skin resurfacing techniques we offer at Personique On The Spot, fractional laser treatments can provide a wide range of benefits. These include:
- Fine Line and Wrinkle Reduction: Signs of aging like fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes and mouth, on the neck, and even on the chest and hands can be targeted with this laser treatment.
- Pigmentation: Pigmentation problems including age spots can be targeted with this treatment. It is also effective on melasma and with other pigmentation-related skin conditions.
- Scarring: This type of laser treatment can be used to alleviate many types of scarring, although it may not be able to completely remove moderate to severe scarring.
- Texture: Many patients choose this skin resurfacing treatment specifically because it offers improvements to their skin’s texture, firmness and softness.
- Cancer Prevention: One of the most important uses of fractional laser technology is the destruction of precancerous lesions, removing damaged tissue and replacing it with healthy, younger tissue.
How Long Do the Benefits Last?
The duration of the benefits this skin rejuvenation treatment offers will vary depending on your personal efforts to protect your skin from further sun damage, as well as your unique genetic aging process. If you take steps to protect your skin from the sun, such as wearing protective clothing and sunscreen, it is possible to see long-term benefits.
Am I a Good Candidate for Fractional Laser Treatments?
Patients of all ages can benefit from the application of this advanced laser technology. However, your own unique needs, goals and skin health will play a role in determining whether you are a good candidate for this treatment, or if another course should be followed.
As mentioned, some patients see greater benefits with non-ablative technology, while others see better results with CO2 laser systems. We invite you to contact us today to schedule a consultation to determine if fractional laser treatment is the right option for you, or if you would benefit from another of our many skin resurfacing options.
