Austin Body Contouring Procedures

Whether it’s a little bit or a lot, fat has a sneaky tendency for showing up in places on our bodies that we would frankly rather it did not. For women, this tends to be the hips, thighs, and belly. For men, localized fat can often manifest in the form of love handles or “man boobs”. Many of us develop localized fat deposits in other areas as age catches up with us, including the upper arms, beneath the chin or in the form of back fat.

Wherever it is, most of us have some region of our body that we’d like to have sculpted and smoothed. Unfortunately, exercise and good nutrition alone don’t always do the trick. While we can tone up and generally get leaner through these means, there is no such thing as “spot reduction”. Meaning if you tend to carry excess fat in an area such as the outer thighs or lower abdomen, even with weight loss, you will still likely carry excess fat deposits in this region.

The Myth Of Targeted Fat Elimination

The fitness and health world is filled with myths and half-truths that are all too often used to sell workout products, exercise programs, memberships to gyms, and a great deal more. The problem here is that these myths can be incredibly damaging and can cause a lot of pain and frustration. One of the most commonly believed and most often touted myths is that areas of fat on the body can be “targeted” in some way through exercise, diet, or the use of a particular product.

Sadly, none of those are true. When it comes to fat reduction, the body is no respecter of your wishes. Fat reduction occurs at an average pace across your entire body. What this means is that while diet and exercise will definitely help you lose weight, the fat loss will be across your entire body, and not concentrated within a specific area. You may see an overall reduction in body size and fat concentration, but you will not be able to target a particular area, such as your stomach, your thighs, your upper arms, or other body parts.

Fortunately, when it comes to eradicating localized fat, going under the knife isn’t your only option. Recent advancements in the field of body contouring have allowed patients to sculpt and refine their figure with less risk and less pain.

What Is Body Contouring?

Body contouring is the name given to a range of processes that allow you to remove fat deposits strategically. One of the most common methods is surgical liposuction, which is an invasive procedure in which an incision is made within the target area of the body, and a surgical vacuum is inserted. It then siphons off fat from within the body.

Obviously, this type of procedure can have long recovery times and can cause pain and discomfort. Laser liposuction is a better option that offers the same powerful fat reduction benefits, but none of the drawbacks of conventional liposuction surgery.

How Does Laser Liposuction Work?

There is a range of different laser lipo procedures available. In general, laser liposuction procedures work by aiming a safe, high powered laser at the treatment area, which destroys targeted fat deposits, which are then secreted from the body via the lymphatic system.

One of the most promising and advanced body contouring techniques available is called SculpSure. It uses laser technology to heat fat cells under the skin, and effectively kill those cells. Thanks to advanced cooling technology, there is no sensation of heat during the procedure, either. Most patients only require about 25 minutes of treatment per session, with no need for anesthesia, and no downtime afterward.

Another body contouring technology that offers noninvasive benefits and no pain or discomfort is VelaShape. Unlike SculpSure, which relies solely on laser technology, VelaShape uses a combination of different technologies, including laser light, radiofrequency energy, and vacuum to eliminate stubborn fat deposits. Most patients see significant benefits with just three treatment sessions.

Both SculpSure and VelaShape offer the ability to remove stubborn fat deposits that cannot be eliminated through diet and exercise alone and are noninvasive treatment methods that deliver powerful results without the need for surgery or downtime. Both can be used for troublesome areas like the abdomen and thighs, but can also be used to remove cellulite.

Am I A Good Fit For Body Contouring?

Most people are a good fit for the nonsurgical body contouring procedures we offer. If you have tried to lose weight through diet and exercise, but have not seen the result you want, particularly in problem areas such as your stomach, upper arms, thighs, chest or sides, then you may be able to benefit from SculpSure or VelaShape.

Is Body Contouring Covered By Insurance?

In most instances, body contouring is considered a cosmetic treatment, rather than a necessary treatment. This means that it is not usually covered by health insurance. However, the same rule applies to all other forms of cosmetic surgery, including conventional liposuction, and in most instances, you will find that the costs of laser liposuction-based body contouring are comparable or even less than those of invasive liposuction surgery.

Personique On The Spot offers safe and effective methods for noninvasive fat reduction and cellulite treatment. A personal consultation will help you determine the best course of treatment for your body contouring needs.
